We had a great re-opening at the Gallery. We are back in swing for the year. Our renovations inside are finished and it looks great with more usable space.
On my beach walk...
... there is a rock with many little windows. I started to put a piece of sea treasure into a window every time I went past it. It looks like it has caught on. I love seeing what new treasures appear.
Elephant
I was quite pleased with how Elephant turned out and amazed I found a piece of paper that really looked like the eye of an elephant. I think it was a snippet from a flower pattern, but it looks so much like an elephant eye. (You can see the green hanging down are the leaves.) You can't see the lovely gold, alas, scans never show that, but there is gold in the tusks and gold in the black edge of his ear. I think he is heading in for a swim. With all that red heat, he needs a cool off.
This piece will also be in the February show until sold!
Creating, creating
This collage turned out so well. I'm really pleased and loved how the little turquoise bits of paper worked their way in...really sets off the red and rust.
What are they talking about? I don't know. But it seems important. Fox has been stopped in mid-stride.
This piece will be in the February show at the Gallery and can be found there until sold!
Wren and Meadow
Love, love, LOVE this piece. I thought it was for the summer show...but I heart it so much that I am keeping it. I love everything about it. The colour combinations, the soft sky and that amazing tree of life in the distant horizon. I wouldn't be able to create anything like this again. I know I would regret selling it. I will make some prints available for sale though.
Miou miou
Next door neighbour's kitty sometimes comes for a visit. She is the kitty of teeny tiny meows, actually her "meows" are more "mi-œs" but rapid-fire miœ, because she is very pleased to see us. Then she quiets down with only the occasional chirp. After she inspects EVERYTHING, she settles down on *her* favourite chair.
Magnetic Inspiration
In my studio, I have one of those magnetic poetry kits on my fridge.
Why not pair up the phrases with some imagery?
Here is my little sketch painting to go with the words.
Cranberry Fields...
...let me take you down / cranberry fields....nothing is real... and nothing to get hung about....
bird, nest, egg
Having fun doing some messy paintwork. You never know what is going to turn up and the bird, perhaps a kingfisher, appeared out of nowhere. How nice.
