A pen and watercolour sketch.
Leisure with no Textbooks.
A gorgeous afternoon in my friend’s garden. Leisurely drawing a pot of begonias with a cup of coffee, cheese and apple slices. Nothing to do but perhaps drift down to the bookstore later for a browse in the fiction section. Novelty. It won’t always be like this, but I will take these moments of leisure where and when I can.
New things emerging.
Always love the friendly robin… and the red-breasted nuthatch.
Two of my fave feathered friends.

Exploration
It seems something new is happening, a different rhythm in the markings.
Mark Making
My brain is tired. All I can do is make marks but mark-making is, in itself, restorative.
And more marks!
Day Out
A day out. A day of leisure. No anxious thoughts about assignments. A ferry ride to the big island, a little shopping here and there. It still hasn’t set in that the training is over. I guess the art work is showing it though!
And then it snowed...
Quite a bit for around these here parts…
It was pretty…
…until it kept going…
Roads were closed for up to two weeks in areas. Luckily, we live on one of the few roads that get ploughed regularly (on a bus route), so we were able to get out and about. Some people were stuck in their side roads for ages. The Island does not usually get much snow, and hence our snow ploughs services/fundings are few and far between. Just got to wait for the melt.
Feathered Friends
Snowy Nelson
Another immersion in Nelson. The last day was enjoying nature as part of our eco-therapy course. It was a great way to end three intense weeks (spent indoors).
The drive home was clean and clear, unlike the semester prior… which was like this…
Wind Storm
An epic wind storm hit the Island, damaging homes and cars. Two friends mentioned how close they came to getting squashed by falling branches and trees. Many were without power for two weeks or so as hydro crews worked around the clock to get the Island up and running. We had no power for ten long days. Partway through, we obtained a generator so we had intermittent power but use of the generator resulted waiting in the line-up at the gas station to get gas. Thankfully, the grocery store was open and well-stocked. Days were spent obtaining supplies, getting gas, and prepping food before it got too dark in the kitchen (3pm).
