Transformations

  Butterflies, air dancers, sky dreamers... are soon to come to our gardens with the warming of the season. Indeed, the Mourning Cloaks, the earliest of the butterflies here on the west coast, are already busy on the wing.

Transformation and metamorphosis are the hallmarks of the butterfly. A process that is unavoidable and can not be prevented once it is set in motion. In a short amount of time, the rather startling changes are completed and something completely different is in the world.

The secret to the transformation lies in the wings for no matter how turbulent the process of metamorphosis, the unfolding of the wings can never be hurried, never forced open but allowed to unfurl and strengthen in their own time.

In this same gentle way, our living winged dreams take flight.
